On August 19, 2016, I was given the privilege to speak to new Health Academy students at Seminole High School. Recently, Seminole High School added a veterinary program in addition to their other programs. As a graduate of Health Academy, I was able to connect with the students and share my experiences. I told them of the many opportunities such as the AgDiscovery Program. I also reminded them to take advantage of the opportunities Health Academy offers. Students are able to shadow different professionals in the health field and they should document those hours. I also advised them to start looking for places to volunteer and shadow.
Lastly, I advised them to keep up on their grades and take advantage of AP courses. Because I took AP courses, I was able to save over $1,000. I only had to take one Mathematics course and one English course. There are other students who have to take several algebra courses before taking Calculus or Statistics.
I feel grateful for the opportunity to speak to the next generation of Health Academy graduates. Hopefully, they were able to learn something new and take advantage of these opportunities early. I cannot express how honored I felt to be invited back Seminole High School.
